what makes google chrome faster than any other browser?

I agree with Irene: It is not as fast as Firefox.

Have had Firefox for years. And have heard of many odd ‘glitches’ with Google Chrome, about it’s speed and ‘hang/lag’ problems…will have to wait and see if Chrome improves at all in the future. … I come from the ‘Old school of Thought’…”If it ain’t broke…don’t fix it!”…So, that means I’m sticking with my super fast Firefox….until I see something better. I think this has to do with the javascript virtual machine named v8.Chrome looks at the javascript source code and generates machine code that can run directly on your cpu generally making your browsing faster

chrome is only faster on teh speed test site that google made just for it.

firefox is teh fastest browser.

i have used chrome and it didnt open from cold or hot as fast as firefox.

think of the tortoise and teh rabbit [tortoise is chrome and the rabbit is firefox ] except this time the rabbit doesnt take a nap and wins by a million miles.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree with Majikthise and Irene here. Seeing the stats from the website majikthise set up, I concluded that Google chrome and firefox are nearly the same. I did not see very much difference. I saw screenshots and other sources on that site that compares the two. I only like a couple differences. But Google displays better with a better toolbar at the top (not so big). You can type anything in the address bar besides a website and it will Google it for you. Also, on chrome the tabs you open get smaller so newer taks can adjust, so there is no staking up. I found speed to be quite the same. The other differences that say that firefox is a little bit better is that they have email support and they have parental controls. But they dont have a thumbnail page like chrome or safari. I know this is a little irrelevant to the topic but, I never have problems opening tabs and navigating through the web. I hate how i have to get addons like for every other page I visit with firefox. I never lagged or had problems connecting to a site.

Chrome load quite a bit faster for me at work, but I think that has more to do with my computer than the browser, as FF loads just as fast at home.

When it comes down to it and think the two browsers are about even for the most case. Chrome is supposed to have a better Java rendering setup. But because of that claim the FF people keep working to improve theirs.
