Where is God?

I’ve been a mormon for all of my life up until now. Recently I’ve noticed things I never saw before. And now I don’t feel like I belong to the mormon church, I don’t believe what they do an dI don’t want to be with them . I know I don’t follow the commandments and I don’t mesh well with the people there. I’ve prayed for years and never once have I been answered. I’ve looked at other religions and talked to friends and family for advice but nothing is helping me. I don’t see any religion that is right for me. And now I feel like I’m missing something. what do I do??

Silverwings, did it ever occur to you that using the Bible to support Christianity is rather circular logic?

I see faith as a trap like quicksand. It asks believers to believe without evidence then once they believe, everything that challenges them is shurgged off as the work of Satan or a test of their faith. I see religion as a vampire that feasts on human insecurity and fear. To me religion is the dark force and reason is the light that illuminates the dark corners of our minds. I know you have the opposite viewpoint and I respect that. If in the heat of discussions if I said anything disrespectful than I appologize but I do reserve the right to be critical in any discussion area including religion.

Atheists are and probably always will be a small minority. I accept that. I’m always interested in what believers have to say about religion. If you look at my threads I don’t always come out against religion; often I just want to see what people believe and why. I’ve had beleivers tell me that discussing religion with me helped them clarify their own beliefs; challenging their premises made them think them through in greater detail than they would have otherwise.

I remember how hard it was when I lost my faith. When you are raised in a religion there are hooks deep in your psyche. I’m simply trying to support eskimo2008 on her quest for the truth. When I became an atheist there was no internet and the only atheist I ever heard of was Madelyn Murray O’Hair and everyone I knew hated her. I thought atheists were perhaps one in a million Americans. When I found out that Athiests are not that uncommon I didn’t feel like as much of a freak. I’m just trying to help eskimo2008 see all the possibilities.

I take the title “King of Unbelief” as a compliment. Thank you!

filet…

I disagree with this statement completely… You said…

If you look at my threads I don’t always come out against religion;

I see that you do… come against faith… completely… with every fiber of your being, you oppose… everything that has to do with God… and you devote all your time.. to this endeavor… who does it profit??? The kingdom of darkness, of course, because it sure does nothing to add faith to anyone… it negates… everything… and you are very good at what you do… completely sold out…

This is the problem, and you need to be delivered of it…

When you are raised in a religion there are hooks deep in your psyche

God can remove these hooks, if you truly seek him. I am sorry for what ever happened to you, to put these hooks in you, and I am more than willing to pray for you to receive deliverance if you want it, God is real, and he loves you… even though you oppose him on every account.

Father God, I pray for complete deliverance for this man, that opposes you so very completely, remove the hooks that are holding him tight, open his eyes and his understanding, to the truth of who you truly are, allow him entrance into your kingdom, so that he can then fight for you instead of against you. Forgive his sins, and create a clean heart in him. Use him as a vessel of honor, to win many to you. In Jesus Mighty Name I pray. Amen.

Eleni… I call it the way I see it… Planting seeds of unblief on a religious board is nothing short of trying to stop others from believing. Satan did it in the beginging and he is still doing it today. He uses people to get his work done, just as God uses his people to counter him. The bible says that we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but, wickedness in high places, that is the mind. It is the enemy of God. There is no reason for unbelievers to hover over this board, except for one thing, and that is to destroy faith, before it has a chance to grow. This is not a personal attack upon anyone, it is contending for the faith. Christianity is not a religion of words, but, of faith, and faith is under attack, and I would not be true to the God that I serve if I did not address it. Sorry if that offends you, but, to me, that is what a Christian is, one that has faith in God, and stands up for what he truly believes. For trying to save ones that are trying to come to faith. The world is in the shape its in now, because Christians fail to stand up for what they believe. They are letting the world and the devil walk all over them, for fear of upsetting someones status quo. People died for this same faith, dare we do less???

Answer #6

I don’t see any religion that is right for me. And now I feel like I’m missing something. what do I do??

There are many people who believe in God, but not believe in religion. You may not have many or any around you, but they exist…

Answer #7

fillet… you do more to turn people away from God, than any other person that I know. The bible says that we are of our father God or our father Satan… looks like you have definately made your decision…and you intend to take as many with you as you can. God help the innocent that fall into your trap. Unbelief is like quicksand… it sucks one up rapidly, and once in it, it is almost impossible to come out. I see your words as a huge black crow, waiting to devour every tidbit of faith that the Christians on this board are able to share, and that you swoop down, and catch up those crumbs, before the hungry have a chance to take them. My hat is off to you, as the King of Unbelief…

Answer #8

I’ve found Christianity hard to reconcile. God loves everyone but he only saves his children who happen to believe a certain way? God sends people to eternal torment even though he loves them? I wouldn’t wish eternal torment on my worst enemy yet God supposedly does this to his own children.

The more I looked at religion the more it seemed to be Santa Clause for adults. A good way to make people behave but ultimately a myth.

You really don’t need religion eskimo2008. I’ve been much happier since I started to look to people I trust and within myself for guidance rather than in the myths, taboos, and superstitions of an earlier era.

Answer #9

Isn’t this area for discussing religion? Isn’t that what we are doing? You seem to want this area to be only for people with one point of view; anyone who disagrees being unwelcome.

If you cast everyone who disagrees with you as being in league with Satan that it becomes rather hard to have intelligent conversation.

Hon, people have been trying to save me ever since I quit believing in God at 12. Lots of believers have prayed for me. The fact that I remain an atheist is testimony against the efficacy of prayer.

Answer #10

Let me share this quotation to you: “Don’t think of saying any unkind word, think of the people who can’t speak. Don’t complain about the food you eat, some have nothing. Don’t complain about life, many die young. When you’re tired of your job, think of the jobless, the disabled and those who wish they had yours. When sad thoughts seem to put you down, paint a smile on your face & thank God you’re alive & you’re still around. Life’s a gift. Live it well”. Value what you had and you will feel how God love you so much.

Answer #11

I was similar. I was brought up christian, but as I got older I started losing my faith for the same reasons. I used to pray everyday and my mum is always praying for me even today. but God never answers my prayers. my life just gets worse. I understand how you feel.

Answer #12

King of Unbelief is a direct opposite of the King of Glory …and that is what it is all about anyway, the kingdom of God contending for the souls of men. This is a spiritual battle, because the spirit is what is at stake.

Answer #13

Eskimo, I urge you to seek God with your whole heart… he will be found, when you do… Your eternal destiny is at stake, God is real, and he does answer prayers, I do not know what has hindered you from receiving, but, if you will truly seek him, apart from any religion, alone with your bible, you will find him. The answers you seek are in the word. Do not be denied a relationship with God, because of what you have experienced so far, there is more… and you can have a life that is fullfilled, Jesus paid the way, the Kingdom of God is yours for the taking. Christ is the key. The bible is the direction. Seek ye first, the Kingdom of God, and everything else will be added unto you. Satan is a liar and a thief, and he would steal from you, what can be yours. A Godly inheritance. Do not be denied…God be with you…

Answer #14

It’s funny but I’ve always thought Fillet’s responses were well thought-out and mature. He simply answered the question that was asked based on his reasoning and personal experience. I have not seen him ever pounce upon Christians and browbeat them into rejecting their beliefs.

Why this post should open him up to such an ad hominem attack is beyond me and, quite frankly, is beneath you, Silverwings. I’ve read lots of your posts and you seem to have a good heart. Although you disagree strongly with Fillet, why rake him over the coals so badly? Perhaps it is this hostility and unwarranted criticism that causes so many to turn away from their god(s).

Answer #15

just ask the God to show you the right way.

Answer #16

Atheist is my way. And would suggest it to anyone.

Answer #17

Satan in the begining, used unbelief, as his weapon, to bring down, Adam and Eve. He said to them… IF…God…Loved You… He would not withhold this good thing from you… God had spoken to Adam & Eve, in person, yet, the doubt and unbelief that Satan spoke into them, caused them to follow him, and not God…

Nothing has changed… Satan still speaks …His desire is to steal away faith before it has a chance to take root. Young believers are extremely vunerable to this assult. They have not yet, taken root in the word, and they can not stand, they are not equipped to do so, they need the prayers of experienced Christians, in order to stand against the forces of darkness, that come against them.

Father God, I thank you for the faith that is needed to overcome all of Satans objections, for new believers, and ones that are trying to find their way, protect them, and guide them, into the place that you have for them, in the kingdom, surround them with ones that love them and will pray for them, until they can become strong, in the faith. We give you praise, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
