Poverty. Teenage pregnancy. Debt. Lack of upward social mobility. Lack of accountability by the federal government to the people who pay taxes.

Racism is one of the major social problems we have to deal with. It is nearly impossible to stop all racism. We use it sometimes to describe a person, even if we don’t mean it to be hateful.

Growing disparity of wealth and income: The very wealthy get even wealthier, while the middle and working class gradually decline (and everyone tries to take it out politically on the poor because they are vulnerable).

Loss of a sense of meaning and common purpose, as the competititve marketplace (including the labor market) drives us all to “look out for number one” and “do unto others before they do unto you.”

Prevalence of fear (of scarcity, violence, change, other people, etc.) over love as a motivation for action.
