full time, reserve, or national guard?

im going to the military, but im not sure which is best: full time, reserves, or national guard.

Answer #1

I’d say ‘full time’ in the USAF (Air Force)….great experience….I’m sure glad I did !

Unless you’re willing to spend 3 - 4 years in hell to make your life after that easier then yea go ahead. The fastest way to get through it is full time.

My Husband was 82nd Airbourne Infantry division. and While he is glad he did it and very proud, he often says it was the worst time in his life.

I spent 4 months in the Army National Guard myself, but I didn’t make it past training. (I received stress fractures in my femur from the runs and road marches)

While in all the support divisions they go softer on the privates (no cussing, use the chain of command blah blah…) It definitely is probably not like that in the Infantry(ok I KNOW it’s not like that…) . But if you’re going to see combat(if you’re in the military, you are first and foremost a SOLDIER) you most definitely want to be infantry, they will teach you right and not go soft on you.

So you basically have to decide #1 What Branch? Army, Navy, Air Force? #2 What liaison? National Guard, Reserves, or Regular? You can get it all over in 3 or 4 years - being away (Regular) or you can drag it out into 8 years where you can be deployed half the time. (Reserves or Guard)

Well lemmy ask u a few things. Are u married? Do u want to get married some day? Do u want kids? Because if any of these things are in your future, then i think the reserves is better for you. The main reason i say that is because you’ll be missing out on these things. And don’t think that i’m just some random girl who doesn’t know what she’s talking about. You being away for a long time, either in war or wat ever, takes a huge toll on the family, or a realtionship. However, if it’s only “on weekend a month, two weeks a year,” then i think you could make it work out. Well best wishes….
