Should I be able to ask out my friend's ex?

well ill try to make this short as possible. my friend who I’ve been hanging out with for a long time broke up with his girlfriend 2 and half months ago, im friends with her too, well nowi have a class with her and weve been getting to know each other and I’ve been hanging out with her for awhile. I was thinking of asking her out to know her better but my friend is getting mad. hes even gone to tell other people to spy on me and what I do around her. hes told me not to flirt around her or anything. but I liek her and want to have him as a friend and still be able to go out with her I was thinking of asking him but im not sure if I want to. what should I do about this

It’s never a good idea to do that, imho…but if you’re in love, well, the heart wants what it wants eh? Just keep in mind, if it goes badly….it may end up ruining your friendship.
