How do you feel about the legal age to have sex being changed from 16 to 14?

Answer #1

I think there will be a lot more pregnant 14 year olds.

Answer #2

That just gives 14 year olds an excuse to go have sex, That Is probably one of the stupidest law i’ve heard.

Answer #3

I don’t think it changes much about 14 y/os having sex, I mean, they’re going to do it anyway it’s irrelevant what the age of consent is. What I’m worried about, is what this means for child abuse in regards to sexual abuse and rape… What are they going to do when there are 21 year old guys having sex with 14 year olds? Nothing? Cause it’s the age of consent? I don’t care what your relationship status is, if you’re fcking a 14 year old, that’s taking advantage. I mean, ffs half of all girls don’t even get their period until they are 14/15.

Answer #4

I doubt it will change the amount of teenagers having sex, but it is a very stupid change. Fourteen is the peak of immaturity in my opinion, they should have just left it at 16. Pretty sure it won’t be changing in Aus anytime soon though.

Answer #5

I aggree.

Answer #6

No ……and I absolutely agree with Renee.

Answer #7

It doesn’t affect me. I don’t think it will mean more 14 year olds will be having sex. They have sex anyway. They don’t give a fudge about the legal age.

Answer #8

it annoys me because people who are already having sex before the age of consent, so making it lower will make it legal, and more people will do it. some people don’t have sex because its illegal. so what now? and right now, people 2/3 years younger are having sex. so what about 2/3 years younger than 14? 11 year olds having kids? good luck with that, idiots.

Answer #9

Children are not equipped in very many ways for sex…..they should be free to enjoy innocent childhood

Answer #10

All it would do is separate the girls who are doing it cause they’re ready and doing it cause legally, “they can” now. Personally think its disgusting for anyone under the age of 16 to be having sex.

Answer #11

in my opinion it doesnt really matter. if a kid wants sex they are going to try to get it.

Answer #12

Right it’s just wrong.

Answer #13

i don’t agree with it cuz i dont think any 14 year old should be having sex but thats just btw usually girls start there periods around 12-13 years old i started mine when i was 12

Answer #14

I don’t think it will change anything about reality. Teenagers hardly ever know the laws let alone respect them. You can’t change their behavior via laws. Some kids were having intercourse that age before. Some kids will have it afterwards.

I think that it is bad if a kid goes to prison for having intercourse with a kid almost the same age. It should be impossible to arrest a 16-year old boy for having sex with his 15-year old girlfriend.

So those laws are basically protecting teenagers from angry girlfriend-parents.

There is only one thing that will protect kids from teenage pregnancies and STDs. And that is a thorough, early sex education.
