Answer #1

Flare jeans and button down shirts unbuttoned halfway were major things back then for boys. Unless that was 70’s….I forget -- oh well, I tried to help ^^’

Answer #2

long hair, bell bottom jeans, tie-dye, batik or paisley shirts, head bands, leather sandals, peace sign jewelry

Answer #3

like drainpipe trousers and skinny ties and flares, or you could go a kind of mod style with like blazer and and a shirt. O rgrow a beard and go for a kind of hippy style with kaftans and stuff. Or look at pictures of the beatles and try to go for their kind of look.

Answer #4

Bell-bottoms, flares, and paisley were mostly ‘70s, not ‘60s. Hippies were atypical.

As a guy, Euan, your most universal ‘60s outfit would have been bluejeans and a t-shirt - tie-dyed if you want to be fancy, but definitely no logo or printing on it. But that doesn’t look so ‘60s now, because it’s still common. If you want something that stands out as recognizably ‘60s, you have to pick one of the particular styles - hippie, mod, early prep, etc. Maybe a loose, blousy, colorful shirt, a fringed and beaded leather vest, or a nehru jacket.

Answer #5

I definitely remember bell bottoms being popular before 1970. I remember begging my parents for a pair I saw in the Sears catalog when I was in 3rd grade which would have been 1969 so by then they were ubiquitous enough to be sold by mass marketers. Not sure about paisleys though.

Answer #6

That’s why I said “mostly.” The way I remember it, bell bottoms started with hippies adding colorful triangular inserts into the seams of their jeans. That was in the ‘60s, but it was not done by your “typical ‘60s teenager.” Like most fashion trends, it didn’t become typical until it was picked up by mass marketers. 1969 sounds about right.
