Dog Peeing in Kitchen

My daughter has a two year old shephard/mix. She will pee outside and then come in and pee in the kitchen within 10 minutes. Every day when I come home from work she has peed in the kitchen. I am getting very frustrated with this behavior. I’m wondering if she is sick or loosing bladder control. Anyone else have this situation?

Sorry juggalosnoopy…the smell of pee kicks in the instinct to mark the area again…the enzyme cleaner breaks down the oder that dogs can smell, and removes it, so the dog isn’t tempted to remark the area…THIS is why they are so easy to train to use one part of the yard, with just a little direction…

no everytime you guys mop it looses her sent and she just marks it again thats all you need to put a piece of card bord there with just a little pee so people wont smell and the dog will smell it and lave your kitchen alone

I saw someone mentioned to rub the dog’s nose in it–I just want to say that’s actually not helpful. The dog just gets confused and can’t understand why you’re doing that.

You have to consciously watch your dog to learn its body language. This will give you clues as to when it needs to go to the toilet.

You have to praise your dog every time it does the toilet outside. The tone of your voice should be really enthusiastic but keep it soft not loud.

Answer #5

when she pees outside praise her and when she pees inside punish her (like tapping on nose with rolled up news paper when she gets used to that she will behave whenever she ses a rolled up news paper our dog did anyway lol)

Answer #7

they have these cloth type mat things that you put on the floor of your house so the dog can pee on it…this chick I knew had them for her dog an they worked

Answer #8

keep her outside longer and dont let her back in until your sure she has peed everything out!! and if she still pees put her outside for maybe a few minutes and then dont reward her maybe just ignore her for maybe 10 minutes when she comes back in

Answer #9

All this says to me, is that this dog is not completely “housetrained”…it “appears” that she is, sometimes, because she will use the outside…She needs to be kept out longer, and when she’s inside, you have to watch her constantly for the FIRST sign that she’s about to squat…then out the door with her…(better clean the spots with enzyme cleaner, also…the smell is a red flag that screams “pee here!!” to a dog, even if you can’t smell it)…

Don’t bother with the newpaper, unless you plan to hit yourself over the head repeating “I forgot to watch the dog”…

Housetraining with punishment causes far more problems than it cures…It’s got to be vigilence…and tons of praise, when they go outside…and that takes someone there watching…I understand your frustration…but I think it will only take a week’s investment to get her out the door for every time she goes…she’s already half way there.
