Yes, It causes an abortion. The American Society of Reproductive Medicine Statement confirms that the Pill does cause Abortion. (2007)

Birth control pills stop ovulation so pregnancy can’t occur. This is true with all forms of hormonal therapy. The IUD interfers with the uterine lining development so that an impregnated ovum cannot attach to it and develop. I guess in the very strictest sense of the word, this might be considered a spontaneous abortion. The catholic church thinks so.

Birth control should however be stopped immediately if you are pregnant, because it can be damaging to the baby.
