What would you do if your doctor tells you he thinks he may have messed you up when he did surgery?

SUE them for a lot of money!!!!

I would research what he did, find the impact if any, then look into to legal ramifications of his or her actions for compensation.

Sue him, but fist make sure that possiive about it and when its proven he did, just because looking like a fool at the end is no fun.

Well you can sue them. Although, I’m sure that the patient is aware that anything could go wrong. Surgery is a risk in many ways, patients shouldnt be surprised if it isnt successful or messed up. However, if the doctor assured the patient that it was going to be 100% successful, and messed it up, then its time to take action.

I would ask him to make sure, find out what went wrong, and what needs to be done to correct the problem. It’s so easy to jump on the wagon and pull the lawsuit card, but, often, these things can be fixed, and the doctor is human, after all.

Well it started with gettin tubes tied, then I got worse, then more surgery, and got worse still, I can’t sit for exteded amounts of time b cuz it puts to much pressure on my cervex, and now he wants to do more surgery, I’m not sure its such a good idea

And he admittedly said he thinks he messed me up as well

What you need to find out is if your surgeon was negligent. Even the best and most careful surgeons have bad outcomes. Surgery is based on a risk and benefit assessment. If the benefit outweighs the risk surgery is advised. There is always risk though.

I think I’d get a 2nd opinion at this point. The fact that he has been so candid is actually a good sign. Most doctor’s when things do not go well go into CYA mode. I would see what other doctors think before proceeding with more surgery though.
