Do I need a car for New York?

Im moving to NYC in a few and I was wondering if I really need to buy a car. I heard theres a lot of traffic out there and theres really no need for a car ,and that most people use the bus and metro. What do you think?

Im moving to New York,New York near NYU and ima work all over.

You won’t really need a car to get around. In fact, it’d probably be pretty annoying most of the time. There’s a bunch of different ways you can get around there, but I wouldn’t recommend bringing a car to drive around. Traffic is crazy there. NYC is great. Good luck!

Absolutely not! You say “near NYU”…that’s in Manhattan of all places in New York City!! Let me give you a few reasons why not : -car insurance is ridiculously expensive -a place to park your car could cost well over $100 a WEEK -you are bound to have a small fender-bender at least every couple of months or at least get scratches or a ding on your car frequently -if you drive to other places in NYC, you will have a hard time finding parking and/or have to pay $$$ for parking in some garage. -“ima work all over”? Does that mean NYC? If so the busses and subway aren’t super clean…but they’re efficient. Also, the tolls for the tunnels and bridges in/out of Manhattan are expensive too! -Oh…and did I mention the traffic? During morning and evening, you can walk faster than the traffic moves

Answer #3

What you heard is right, you don’t need it. You can get a bicycle if you don’t want to use the bus or metro.

Answer #4

well depends on where you live…many use the city transport system. Most have vehicles for personal use. Good luck with your move.
