How does diffusion in cells help organisms maintain homeostasis?

Answer #1

with diffusion the particles move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration until they reach equilibrium which is balanced(homeostasis)

Answer #2

poke a balloon

Answer #3

thank you

Answer #4

Diffusion is a substance molecule passing through the cell membrane… Homeostasis is the act of cells maintaining an equilibrium (having the same amount of a substance inside the cell and outside the cell) Diffusion helps cells maintain equilibrium by passing FOR EXAMPLE water molecules in and out of the cells making sure that all parts of the body have the same amount of water.

Hope this helps :)

Answer #5

isnt that osmosis?? i mean i know its a type of diffusion.. and cant you change that with a hypertonic, hypotonic, or isotonic enviroments?

Answer #6

you could use sugar instead of water if thats a problem but is Osmosis is Diffusing water. Now Hypersonic means that there is more sugar in the solution then outside the cell and hypotonic means more inside the cell then out… This means that the cells would not be maintaining equilibrium and can’t be in homeostasis. Isotonic means that the cells have the same amount of sugar is their enviroment so this would be equilibrium.
