Demo for record companies...how to make it...

What is a good company to sent in a demo? I sorta wanted to go with the company Miley Cyrus has…but I don’t know any ideas? What makes a good demo tape a good one? What are the contents of a good one?

Hello, as a record company owner myself, I can give you a few good pointers. =]

First of all, you don’t just want a demo. You want whats called a press kit. A press kit general consists of the following:

  • A recorded demo, preferrably of higher quality (the higher the quality and better production on the cd shows your dedication)
  • Press photos (professional photos of yourself and your band)
  • Either a band or self biography
  • Pieces of merchandise you or your band have
  • A list of venues or places you’ve played

Those are generally the things I recommend to have in a press kit, Hope that helps!
