Should I go to college right after high school?

Should I go to college right after high school or do what I had planned to do, wait a year and save some money then go. What do you think?

Answer #1

Oklahoma, nobody ever said college was easy. If you are going to work your way through college you will either have little free time or it will take longer to graduate.

Answer #2

its hard.. but.. you do what you have to. you find time though.. just depends how much you work. you’ll have nights off maybe 1nce a week or so. and your classes arent always everyday. when your in college they change.. you may only go to classes like 3 days a week.. just depends on your schedule.

Answer #3

But what about free time? When Im going to work in the morning and going to school during the night how am I going to have time to myself?

Answer #4

well I can tell you from my experience… I went straight in..took one year..then stopped to save some money… I really regret not just getting it over with and going in and sticking it through for my 4 yr degree. once you are out of school.. its soo hard to get back into the swing of things… if you really need the money.. then I agree with filletofspam that you should do a few nightclasses and work during the day… that way your still on your toes when it comes to school and classes but still earning money. Although I worked while I was attending full time at a university. as long as your dedicated enough, anything can be done.

Answer #5

You can work and take a night class or two at Jr. college. If you do this than it is a good idea to talk to a counselor at the 4 year school you want to transfer to so you can be sure to get credit for your work. e.g. when I took world history at JC the class was “History of Western Civilization” at the University I needed world history that included the history of the East as well for my degree.

Generally it is cheaper to take classes at Jr. College and the amount of homework is often less. I only took core classes at JC, all the classes in my major I took at my University.
