What does it mean to "clear out a crack in a bone"?

I recently had a MRI and the results just got in. So I went to the doctor and he said that there were some cracks in the bone. The best thing to do would be to rest it. He said that it will either heal on it own or they will need to clean up the cracks. So what exactly does that mean?

I’ve never heard of this phrase personally, so I can’t give you a definite answer. I think it implies that there’s bone fragments that are preventing it from healing, however, and that they need to clean the cracks up so that it can get a clean heal?

To know the answer for sure, your best bet would be to ask your doctor what the cleaning entails and the reason for it.
