Bush prosecutor spent $12 million to prosecute Tommy Chong?

This makes me sick. I’ve read through the government accountability spreadsheets and given that our federal programs are generally failing…reading that the government spent twelve million dollars to incarcerate Tommy Chong over marijuana is disgusting. Tell me: was that well spent? Or could we have done something better with the twelve million dollars?

Answer #1

What has happend to Chong IS a travesty, but it’s a travesty repeated a million more times among the general population of incarcerated drug users.

Answer #2

$12 million to prosecute a guy for a victimless crime? Well, in these days where we frivolously throw trillions around to bailout everyone, why not a dozen mil to frivolously incarcerate Tommy Chong?

According to modern economic theory, the more money we flush down the toilet to destroy as many people and as much property as we can, the better off we all are. Tommy is just one of a million martyrs helping us reach economic Nirvana.

Answer #3

I heard Tommy Chong discuss this. What a travesty. Millions of dollars wasted. When the Feds knocked on his door, he should have said “Chongs not here” Sorry guys, I REALLY liked their albums when I was a teen.

Answer #4

It is amazing how skewed out priorities are in this country.

Just think about how much money we would save if we just made it legal. It is just ridiculous.

Answer #5

Wow this is one of the rare occasions I can actually agree with you. I dont do drugs but I do believe that the war on drugs is failing for this reason. We need to worry about the violent drug offenders over all. The law is the law but 12 million is over kill, also what you forgot to mention was they also want him in jail for 9 months. Umm.. I doubt he was a violent drug offender, so that is way too long.

Answer #6

* Sorry:

If ANY prosecutor did this, democrat, republican, green party, independent, I’d be PISSED.

I should have mentioned that in the original question, not as a follow up, my bad. It’s a disgusting waste of resources when we have so many people losing their jobs.
