Broken toe

My husband just broke his second toe from the right …on his right foot. It’s a ugly color of blue /black from half way up his foot to the first joint on his toe.Its also swollen too. I’ve been putting ice on it every hour for 15 minutes at a time. And he’s keeping it elevated. He will not let me “buddy wrap” it to another toe. Besides giving him Alieve …what else can I do for him?

The Dr. isn’t going to do much for a broken toe…cept tell you to keep it elevated and iced, to stay off of it a few days, and maybe prescribe a few painkillers…all of which you’re doing now.

The best thing is to ice it, like 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off and keep it elevated (which you are doing). The only thing a doctor is going to do is “buddy wrap” it to the toe beside it. But, since it’s black and blue up into his foot, he may have broken a bone in his foot too, which would be serious enough to need medical care. I would take him to get some x rays just to be sure.

I agree, not knowing just exactly how bad it is, if he doesn’t go, he could end up permanently disabled.

Answer #4

Take him to the doctor!
