black at the sides of the screen

my moms computer is being really strange. she used the system recovery last night so she could just erase everything and start over and now theres about a 1 1/2 inch on each side of the screen thats just black. does anyone know how to fix this…

Yes, there should be a little button on the monitor that brings up a little menu screen kind of thing, then there are arrow buttons and go over until you reach a icon that says “H-size” or something and has a picture of a box with a horizontal arrow in it. click the same button that you clicked to clicked to open the menu thing and it should have a bar partially filled in with a number under it, so press the right arrow to make the screen bigger until it fits without black on the side. Then there should be a button that says “exit” or something to close that menu. Now you’re good as new!
