Birth Certificate Question?

I was adopted when I was 3 weeks old and my adoptive parents had their names put on my birth certificate. I know and have a relationship with my biological family and am wanting to locate my original birth certificate but am unsure of how to go about doing so.. First of all, would there be an original birth certificate with my biological mother and father’s names on it? Second, if there is or should be how would go about locating a legal document like that? If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Understand that I am not in the legal field, but as I understand it, you just go to the courthouse that covers the hospital where you were born. You will have to have proof of your identity. Since you have contact with your bio-parents, it should be fairly simple to find out where that courthouse is. If it is too far away to visit, at least call the courthouse and ask them what you need to do. The original birth certificate will have your birth mother’s name and probably your father’s also (but father’s name is usually simply reported by the mother). Good Luck!!
