I understand everything, but the one part where that girl who lives in the worn down house is also teh witch

can someone please explain to me what this really symbolized?

The witch’s eye is what told Edward how he would die…I think him knowing this helped him realize he was the “big fish” in the little pond, and had to get out of that town.
