Best Friend's Grandfather's Funeral

My best friend’s grandfather passed away this past week. I have never met him, but I know he was important to her. My friend and I have fallen out of touch over the past several months and I didn’t not find until I spoke with her last night. I am a close friend of hers (I am in her wedding this summer) but not of the family.

The wake is tonight, but I cannot make it due to work and the long drive. The funeral services are tomorrow, and I can make arrangements to attend.

My question is, would it be appropriate to attend his funeral even though I did not know him?

Answer #1

Sure it would - it would show support for your friend - she’d never forget it - classy.

Answer #2

If you’re comfortable with it, it’s certainly appropriate for you to go and show moral support.

Answer #3

yes exact same happend to me and my friend. My friend came and she came to support me. I was very happy she did and made me feel she cared, cus she didn’t have to. Your friend will def appriciate it, I know I did.

Answer #4

Go to support the ones who are still living (in this case - your friend).

The dead care not. It doesn’t matter that you didn’t know him.
