How do I know if my bellybutton piercing is infected and what can I do for it?

soo its gonna be a week tomarrow since i had it & i try suppppppper hard to be careful with it, but omg i never realized how much you could hit yourself in one spot!! the top ball is red & hurts a little, but i dont know if its infected or not. i really just want it to heal, but i keep hitting it, or when i sleep, ill fall asleep on my belly & ive tried so hard not too. so if you can help, thank you so muccch,! <3

It could be that your naval is simply healing. But if you have any discharge that is green, grey or yellow; accompanied by a not so pleasant odor you ought to visit your piercer just to be sure. Never clean your naval piercing with dirty hands. Don’t think about your naval piercing so much, and perhaps you won’t disturb it as much.

its likley to be part of the healing process, after all that area can take 3-6 months to heal properly. if you keep hitting it then the wound is aggrivated and will take longer to heal. signs of infection are puss (however its also a part of the healing process) swelling, odd smell comming from it and change in colour ogf the skin. but to find out for sure, show it to the peircer or a doctor
