Why is it bad to give your dog a bath once a week?

Answer #1

I don’t think it is bad to give a dog a bath once a week. People say that bathing a dog too much can cause dry skin and irritation. But once a week shouldn’t do that, every day or every other day would be too much. I think giving your dog a bath once a week, or every 2 weeks is best.

Answer #2

Test it out to find out If the once a week thing works out stick with it If the once a month thing works out stick with it You won’t know until you try it for yourself

Answer #3

i would say if you were going to do it then i would suggest once a month and give your dog cod liver oil or somthing like that because it helps kep their coat nice which will help their skin from drying out.

Answer #5

You shouldn’t do bathing for dogs every week it can cause sever dry skin, irritation, and colds. My moms a vet, I asked her. She recommends every two weeks or twice a month instead.

Answer #6

My mother’s been doing that for the last 10 years. My dog is fine. It depends on where you live. If your dog is outside all the time and it’s hot, there shouldnt be an issue. Obviously during cold weather you dont want to do that.

Answer #7

You deplete the natural oils in the skin that mother nature put there to protect the skin and coat. If your dog needs anything to stay smelling good, with a soft shiny coat….go to Walmart and buy some Fish Oil caps…..give him one a day with his food (they love them). Fish oil is full of Omega 3’s and 6’s, and do wonders for skin and coat….and they are very inexpensive.
