is it bad for me to add salt to my cats dinner?

Answer #1

I’m curious why you’d add salt to it….

Answer #2

I’m sure salt would dehydrate him and make him bloated… salt isn’t even good for us..

Answer #3

yeahh… i think moderation is key

Answer #4

Yes, salt isn’t good for any animals, including humans. Why do you want to add salt to his food. It already contains enough salt for him.

Answer #5

just thought it would be better tasting since all food tastes better with salt!!

Answer #6

No it doesn’t. And animals actually hate salty things.

Answer #7

yes, animals foods are made to have just the right amount of salts and fats and vitamins in them so you dont need to add anything adding more salt would be slowley poiseing him!

Answer #8

I agree, and that’s wat the vet told me so PLEASE don’t put salt in the animals food

Answer #9

yes, there is absolutely no reason to add salt to his food. It is not good for him.

Answer #10

Think of this. Animal foods are processed just like human foods. They have no nutrition in them. All dead ingredient. In order for the cat or dog to eat it there has to be something in it that will entice the animal to eat. vitamins are all synthetic, which can’t be absorbed well or not at all, even in humans, and salt in the food is only sodium chloride, not sea salt. Sea salt has 87 minerals the body needs in order to function, common table salt doesn’t.

Have you wondered why cats and dogs get the same diseases as humans. Think about what they eat, no different the humans’ food.

If you want a cat or dog to be healthy and live a long time do this. Cook up a vegetable stew, with meat. They’ll love it. Make sure the vegetables and meat are organically grown.

Answer #11

You realize it is a cat. Not a human. Also who says things taste better with salt? i dont like salt. Not everyone has the same taste buds as you. Especially a cat. Do your cat a favor, stop thinking of it as a tiny human.

Answer #12

I agree I don’t like salt at all either

Answer #13

Same here, I actually hate salt and I know that animals prefer things that aren’t salty….so.

Answer #14

What do you have at home. Table salt or Sea Salt? There is a big difference. Table Salt is only Sodium Chloride and Sea Salt has all the 87 (I believe it’s 87) minerals the body needs to help absorb the vitamins. Also, food tastes different. Good chefs always cook with Sea Salt, preferable Kosher Salt. I found the best to be Kosher Salt.

Answer #15

Also, the reason animals are getting the same diseases as humans is all the processed foods we humans give them. The average cat and dog should live to be about 20 years. They would if man didn’t give them processed foods.

I heard a story 30 years ago on the radio, about a man in Australia who had a dog that lived to be 28 years old. All he gave him was a bowl of vegetable soup, made with fresh vegetables, salt and pepper.

Answer #16

And I’m lost as to the relevance? I have table salt. Regardless, of how many minerals sea salt supposedly has, the taste of salt is the taste of salt. I’m not too fond of it. And exactly where are you getting the idea that animal food has no nutritious value from? The vets dont exactly agree with you. And animals live far longer with humans than they do on their own. So the food can’t be all that bad.

Answer #17

great answer!

Answer #18

can i just say ty, over reading heaps of the answers you give over this site, are always so negative and bitchy! you could say things nicely to someone insted of thinking your advice is top and you know the best!

Answer #19

It tastes the same to me. I hate both. And too much of both isn’t good for an animal. The only salt I found ok was a mineral salt, which is from rock formation, similar to sea salt. Also there are more minerals in sea salt, but it is still sodium chloride and the amount of minerals in there is so small that it is negligible and still not good for you at all. We don’t need extra salt at all. All our foods are processed and we get in enough salt like that.
