Who knows if AVG VIRUS SOFTWARE is a scam?

Because it is saying i have a hella’of alot of viruses, and plus no virus protection is free. Now i don’t know where to turn.

Answer #1

AVG is one of the better ones…also Norton and Avast

Answer #2

avg anti-virus free edition is free and 100% safe…

AVG will not get it wrong, i use it.

let it delete all the crap and then leave it to run and protect you in real time.

Answer #3

I used it and went a long time without a problem but then I got a virus then I got norton

Answer #4

AVG is much better than Norton, in my opinion.

Answer #5

AVG is on of the cheaper ones, the cost for their solution starts at free.

Answer #6

But their free anti virus will not run on servers, you have to use their pay solution.

Answer #7

The best I’ve used is Nortons. I download like crazy and never get viruses. Unfortunately Nortons is rather expensive. I’ve never had the paid versions of Avast or AVG, but have used both their free versions and still got viruses (Its free, I really don’t expect it to work as well as the bought version). My dad had free AVG and his computer crashed twice due to viruses and I saved it the third time by getting him Nortons. Nortons literally took out over a 1000 viruses.

Answer #8

norton is too big and uses a lot more resources

Answer #9

vice versa for me… i used norton, didnt just get a virus but neally lost complete control of my system.

since AVG i havent even had anything even attempt to get through.

but this is where i disagree. the free version of avg anti-virus is exactly teh same as the paid version.

the paid version just offers a few more things.

Answer #10

I agree.

Answer #11

My uncle owns a computer store and he’s informed me that AVG will create pop ups and viruses to make you think that you have a virus to scam you into getting their software.

Answer #12

He is quite simply wrong. I have never had that effect. Although there have been periods where I have used other Virus scanners for evaluation purposes, AVG has been my scanner of preference for about 75% of the last 5 years.

One thing to note About AVG Free - you need to scan for “rootkit” viruses manually - an auto scan does not pick them up.

Swore I would never use the expensive Norton Antivirus after it caused so many crashes that my computer was almost unusable (until I uninstalled and replaced it with McAfee) I have not used it since - in about 10 years why by things when better systems are free?

Majikthise.

Answer #13

I still use AVG, It’s good as long as you update it and run it regulary. I wasn’t trying to persuade you not to use AVG. Sorry for the confusion.
