Am I losing my singing voice?

Hey,

Ok, so I used to be able to sing out really big tunes without much effort, without sounding like I was shouting, but recently I’ve noticed I can’t get them out anymore, and I’m really scared I’m loosing my singing voice.

I have haylfever just now because it’s summer, and I’m only 15 so I know my voice will change just as your whole body does, but does anyone have any advice for me as to how I can sort of ease the transition as my voice changes?

I’m going to a youth music theatre project on the 2nd of august and so my voice needs to be in tip top shape so I can try to get a part/solo e.t.c…

Any sort of answer is greatly appreciated Thank you ^^ x

Hmm…do you have a vocal coach? If so, I’d ask them. Have you been singing really big tunes a lot? It may just be that your voice is tired, and hayfever doesn’t help lol. To clear the throat, you could try Vocalzone - they’re foul but work wonders! Do you know how to belt? Because if you’re singing forcefully and you don’t know how to belt, that could damage your voice. What’s your range? I can probably tell you more if you tell me that. xx

Answer #2

I think you’re having trouble belting. If you don’t do it properly, it can damage your voice, so I wouldn’t sing these numbers at top volume when you practice only when you actually perform them for someone.

Let me know if you want some vocal exercises I have tons and they’ll loosen your voice up and have you singing your best in no time.

the omly thing I can tell you to do is keep practicing and take some medicine for your throat and if that doesnt work find you a new sound.

Answer #4

you might want to be carful because if you havent been singing properly you could have developed vocal nods which are like bumbs on your vocal chords. A doctor could tell you definatley

Answer #5

um, Just try to sing. lIke go around singing and stuff like that. LOl! Uhhh, maybe your voice has changed. SO, maybe that’s your new voice. IF it is your get used to it and be able to sing out high notes!!!

Answer #6

I don’t get coached, but I’ve decided that if it doesn’t get better I will seek some sort of professional help.

I haven’t established a key because it changes so much, but the highest note I’ve sung on stage was in Cosette’s part of ‘a heart full of love’ in Les Mes.

I’m a very, very comfortable alto, comfortable mezzo, and depending on the place and time I can go higher! It all depends, my voice does what it like, I need to be able to control it somehow!!
