All about Huskies

I love huskies with all my heart, but am unsure in getting one in my near future. People say they can be aggressive, but they also say that they are gentile and kind; it can get kindof confusing. Anyone know anything about huskies? Are they easy to train?

All breeds can have aggressive lines in them…If you decide to get a Husky, be sure to meet the parents. If they are sweet and friendly (which Huskies generally are), then you’ll probably be pretty safe. Don’t pick an assertive pup (one that comes immediately to you and starts chewing on your hands)…and don’t pick a pup who’s hiding, or won’t come at all. Most the pups will come to you, sniff…lick, and then maybe mouth your hand a little…

Huskies were made to work, so they need a lot of exercise and consistant direction and discipline (not be confused with punishment)…just “rules” to learn.

They are sweet and loving…they shed, they dig a lot (to keep cool)…they tend to howl, but that’s kinda neat…They must be kept fenced, as “running” is what they are bred to do. Generally speaking, they don’t get on well with cats, as they have a very high prey drive…if something runs, they chase it.

Just like any other dog, they can be aggressive if mistreated or improperly trained, but train them well and you have a very loyal and friendly companion.
