Can anyone help define this Adam smith quote?

“it is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest.”

What does this mean?

Answer #1

That the needs and demands of the producer (the butcher, etc.), in the end, benefit the needs of the consumer ( “we”)
