Yeast Infection

I think I have a yeast infection hao can I be sure. Oh YEAH. Is it ok for a 13 year old to have one. What should I do?

If this is your first yeast infection, you should see your doctor. The usual signs are pain around the vaginal opening, itching in the vaginal area and a pale yellow to whitish sort of thick discharge (cottage cheese-like). If you have a foul smelling discharge and are sexually active it could be a STD (sexually transmitted disease). Your doctor can easily diagnose you and get you on a treatment. I like the Diflucan pill as you just take one pill and it usually gets rid of the infection. The over-the-counter vaginal creams (1,3, or 7 day) also work well, but you end up with the cream leaking out of your vagina the next day, so wear a panty liner! Generic creams are cheaper and just as effective as Monostat.
