Would Hillary Clinton have risen to where she is without Bill?

Columnist Dinesh D’Souza: “Long known for speaking candidly, (Geraldine) Ferraro recently remarked that ‘if Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position.’ There’s a molecule of truth in this. . . . It’s equally obvious, by the way, that if Hillary was male–and not married to Bill Clinton–she wouldn’t be in her position. Hillary came to national prominence not through her own efforts but through the success of her husband. Virtually all her ‘experience’ prior to being elected Senator is in fact Bill Clinton’s experience. She wouldn’t even have been elected to the Senate without Bill.” - Would you agree or disagree ?

Answer #1

I agree.

Answer #2

I have to knowledgeably disagree, as an informed person of America. You see, I actually think, Hillary made up Bill, while Bill was out there cheating and getting his freak on, she was picking up after him, how do you think so much got done, when he was out, having an affair? I condone her as a strong woman! Able to get over an affair and become a senator, it takes a lot. Hillary “could” have done it without Bill. Obama is ignorant, he is smart but ignorant I do not appreciate his presence, think about it until he ran for president, he was…”nobody” just because you knew he was in a prestigious position, you did not know him, I certainly didn’t Obama is doing all for publicity, and cannot maintain his “change”, Hillary does more and talks, less and Obama talks a lot more and does less! He was a nobody until Oprah stumble upon him, “because he was black”, it would be a lot better if he wasn’t in teh race!

both. bill helped her gain her popularity, but hillary knows wut she is doing. bill brought her up and she is taking her self higher. she is a very unique speaker in most cases.

Answer #4

Veguy, how much had you heard of bill clinton before 1992? We was a governor of an extremely small state. While you may have heard of dubya because of his father, he had very little experience (and it showed). Texas governors are practically figureheads, and have realitively little power. The state legislature really runs the government.

Being known nationally does not make you less or more qualified to be president. Obama has achieved a lot in short time. He has not been in DC long, and I consider that a positive thing.

Answer #5

hell yea I agree

Answer #6

yah, yah, and if W wasn’t the son of Bush Sr., he wouldn’t have been President either. So what?

Politics is not designed to give us the best candidates, it’s designed to give us the most influential candidates - for whatever reasons.

Answer #7

Disagree.

And since no one who “agreed” explained their point of view, I will :)

Hillary graduated from Yale Law school- much on par with many “good” Presidents, such as Dubya. She was senior partner in a law firm before Bill was elected–a career choice that many Presidents have made.

She has also served on the Senate–helllooo.

Answer #8

Would you like me to start listing the untruths of the Bush administration. I am not sure this forum allows posts that big.

Answer #9

I agree with “editor” completely, and I would add that Obama graduated from Harvard Law, spent considerable time organizing community events, and also helped spur voting drives. I’d say that has a little more to do with his success than just being black.

Neither of these two used their race or gender to get where they are, or rode on someone else’s coat tails (unlike the man who currently sits in the White House).

Research - Hillary admits to:

Untruths:

• Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)

• Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)

• She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)

• She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn’t cover the market back then.)

Whoppers She Won’t Confess to:

• She didn’t know about the FALN pardons.

• She didn’t know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.

• Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.

• She didn’t know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.

• She didn’t know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.

• She opposed NAFTA at the time.

• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.

• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.

• She played a role in the ‘90s economic recovery.

• The billing records showed up on their own.

• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.

• She was always a Yankees fan.

• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).

• She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).

Obama not only went to Harvard law school, he was president of the Harvard Law Review. An extremely prestigious position. He was the first black elected to it.

I think both of them are where they are as a product of their intellegence and hard work, as well as other extenuating circumstances. Might Hillary have been in the position she is had Bill not been president. Who knows. But it certainly helped. No matter how she got there, she is qualified regardless of her genital make up.

Obama on the other hand has not been handed anything because he is black. He is not a product of affirmative action. He didn’t get elected pres of the law review because he was black. He got where he is due to intelligence, chasima, and hard work. I think if anything, his ethnicity has closed much more doors than it opened in his quest for the White House. Had he been white he would have already one this thing.
