Why won't my computer "disc holder" eject?

I know thats not the most tech answer but I need to put some of my iTunes songs onto a cd and whenever I try to open up the disc thing it makes a grinding sound. So its probably jammed but is there anyway to fix it?

Answer #1

Not really too sure…you might want to bring it in and see if something is jamming it

Answer #3

If it’s just a little jam, they can fix it within an hour

Answer #4

you can try to force eject it.

You will need something like a paper clip, with part of it bent straight. With the computer shut off, look at the front of the CD drive. There should be a small hole. Slid the paper clip into it the hole, and you should feel it catch on something. Push until the CD tray pops out just a bit.

Now if your CD drive is just wearing out, you might have to do this every time you need to open the CD tray. In that case instead of shutting the computer down, just press the open button and be ready with the paper clip, already have it in place. Once the CD drive tries to open, us the paper clip to push and help it pop open. (We have 2 computers at work I have to do this too every time, luckily they rarely need CD’s)

I would also start looking for a new DVD drive. You can pick up CD/DVD burner drives online for about $20.00
