Is it wierd to be sixteen and still getting an allowance, rather than just getting a job?

No I still get money from my parents for doing jobs around the house etc. There;s nothing wrong with it - we’ve got to get money somehow =].

Well…it’s kind of childish. You’re going to have to get a job at some point, ya gotta start somewhere and fast food stores are usually that somewhere. If you don’t work at the lower, sh!ttier stores while you’re younger then when you’re older, how will the bigger stores/companies know if you’re reliable?

as long as you do chores for the allowance, I think its okay. as for the job, I know plenty of 16 year olds without one. but it might be a good idea to start saving up.

No it’s not weird, I had a job before at 15 yrs old then quite and didn’t get another job til I was 18. My mom still helps me out with my bills.

yea i agree but i plan to start my own businesses or just join the family jobs, like my aunt does realestate and some other member of the family do it with her and i went it did it with her a couple of times and i enjoyed it

im definitely not a lazy person i had jobs but they were inconvenient and and i do work for the money and i do side “jobs”even though they are not big things,its still working,im not a lazy person at all

i do chores for the money and i do little jobs like help fixing up houses and babysitting but the babysitting thing is like a 13 year old job, and i did have jobs like McDonalds and taco bell and i worked at right aid and stuff like that but i moved alot so i never kept those jobs

No its not .. i dont have a job because I dont have the time but I also dont get an allowence from my dad sooooo I’m broke … Gotta get money for doing favors for people when i can lol

I think so. My parents stopped giving me allowance long time ago. At 16 I think you’re old enough to get a job, and learn responsibility and money management so if I had a child, I probably would not give him/her allowance eiither.

Where I live, we don’t get an “allowance”. Sure some of our parents give us some money if we do things for them but most of us find a job, a shitty one like in a fast food restaurant, by the age of 14 or 15. You’ve gotta learn independence somehow.

Umm, soo I never got an allowance and I’m 13, so if youh can get away with getting an allowance at 16 then I think youh should just go with the floww, intill youh find a good job, but intill then youh should stick with thoose side jobs and what not (: and as for it being wierd … it really isn’t because I know a lot of people who are your age and have a job while there parents still give them allowance, and they even give them extra money to go hang out with their friends … and every family is different soo, nopee. Not weird at all(:
