Why would they say these things?

Ok my boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years. We lost one good friend of 10 years in the beginning due to jelously (he wanted to be with me) so time goes on and we decide to make some new friends for 2010. So here come guy #1. Hangs out almost daily for like 2 months, then one day he says we either need to start having an affair or hes out.. Good bye friend #1. Friend #2 comes around we hang out almost every day then after a couple month he pulls me to the side and says if he can’t be with me he’ll kill himself. Now the question… What is up with these guys?? I am not super hot im 30 and chubby I jsut wonder why these guys are all or nothing isn’t my friendship enough?
