Why does he talk about other girls?

we are NOT dating or anthin…but this guy never used to tell me about other girls. he wuz flirting with me telling me that he’s good looking…but the other night I was playing around over text with him and saying “I wonder who says that he’s soo good looking…because they must be lying to him” then I don’t know how he took it, but he just told me that “drunk’ girls at parties tell him that…and sober ones at work and he gets it all the time from girls…he even mentioned this girl apparently he had a “thing” with over the summer…he said she told him that he was good looking 2…and he was able to hook up with a lot of girls…
I understand al of that but why would he be telling me that for?? and hooking up with others? and that girl over the summer?? making me jelous or what is he trying to do?
