Why cant I view hidden files and folders in my computer?

For about a week I have been trying to view hidden files but I can’t view them.I have already selected view hidden files and folders in folder option but it doesn’t work.

If you are using Windows Xp/Vista.. den open my computer So to the Tools option on the top and then select folder option after the folder options box is open go to veiw and there will be a option ‘Show hidden files and folders’ select that and you will b able 2 watch the hiiden files…

You already worked out how to select view hidden files but did you select view system files. Maybe watch you looking for is there. I had to do this once to get rid of a virus.
