Who knows a sociopath?

My parent’s friend’s son has been diagnosed with ‘sociopathic personality disorder’ amongst a huge list of other things. Basically he cannot sympathize or empathize with another human being. Their pain does not bother him on ANY level at all. He is the center of his universe, and literally cannot grasp why he’s not the center of everybody else’s. He doesn’t have any friends, but it’s not so much as he’s a jerk and nobody wants to hang around him as it’s he’s just very strange. I wouldn’t go as far as saying that he’s mean though. He’s not- he’s completely devoid of emotion about other people- hatred and spite included.

When he was a young teen he got into some dark stuff. He was arrested for killing a neighbor’s kitten, and they’d found out he was killing other tiny animals (mostly field mice and frogs). That prompted his parents to get him some help. He knows what he did was wrong- but only because it was illegal and got him in trouble, he doesn’t feel bad for the animals he hurt.
