Is it common not to have any friends at school?

I dont seem to have any true friends at school. They seem to talk to me at school but when it comes to outside they dont talk at all. They dont invite me out anywhere. If I invite them out something always “comes up” at the last minute. If they do talk to me its only to ask about homework or where someone else is. Of course it bothers me but its been like this for such a long time that im accepting it now. I was just wondering if anyone else is or has been in the same situation and if it will change when I get to uni or after. Or is it something to do with me and should I have to change and be false to accommodate for their ways?

I say try to get more involved with them by asking if there are any events going on! If that doesn’t work, try to get a boyfriend. And if that doesn’t work, get something to show off. I hope I helped!

I was pretty similar in all the way through high school. I lived about 15 minutes from town and it was always hard for me to get involved in things and by high school I had just become accustomed to the fact. I was never too bothered by it, but when it came time for lunch, it was always awkard trying to find people to sit with. I ended up making a whole new set of ‘lunch buddies’ as a senior, pretty much every year if I think about it.

But at college now I have a lot of friends. Its really a whole new ball game (unless you go to a college that has a LOT of kids from your HS). Just try to be outgoing at college, especially at the beginning of the year. Its easy because everyone’s awkward and doing the same thing.
