Hi,

I have been to Malta in 1999 with a student group (history field trip). Malta is a very small country. They have only a couple of hundred thousand inhabitants. The capital Valetta has a lot of old and beautiful buildings. The port of Valetta is impressive.

I have been there in October. The land was very dry. Almost desert climate. And it’s hot. Bring good sunblocker. There are some very beautifl beaches. But some beaches collect floating debris. Some tourist crowded places also looked dirty.

Locals are strictly catholic. Laws are according. So changing clothes on the beach or bathing topless (as a female) will give you troulble with authorities.

Public transports was… well… adventurous. The buses were ancient. And they weren’t climatized so the drivers left the doors open at full speed. Tickets seemed to be more expensive if you look like a tourist. Look at what the person before you in line pays. Traffic in general is difficult. The locals tend to have a very ‘spirited’ driving style. The horn seems to be one of the most important parts of the car. Pedestrians are an endangered species. ;) And they have left-side traffic. Just like GB.
