Am I depressed?

(srry kinda long) I think im depressed not sure? I get like these random feelings where I breakdown and start crying. I feel as if im worthless and my lifes never gona go anywhere. Its weird because one moment im all happy and hyper(mostly at school) but then like all of a sudden I need to get away from people because they irritate me and I just want to beat the crap outta them. I constantly need something to do to keep my mind of things because then I start cutting(I know its bad buttt it helps) I cant talk about it because then I feel like a pathetic overly emotional weirdo. o_o

I had the exact same feeling as you when I was younger, it hasn’t comletely gone away now and I’m 17, I hide it well. I haven’t cut in years though.

Luckily I’m really close with my Mum, so I was able to tell her although it took a lot of build up and courage despite my trust and honesty with her.

She booked me a docs appointment and they did a blood test. This is to see if there are any unusual hormone imbanances causing you to feel this way, you can get this done without your parents knowing if you are able to get to the doctors independantly.

If a hormone imbalance is found medication can be given to you to help you overcome this.

Listening to music, playing games etc doesn’t help it just masks the problem, you need to find the route of it.

I really hope I’ve helped as I’ve suffered for years, I hope you can escape quicker than I did x

I understand how you feel. One minute you’ll be happy and the next you have feelings of being worthless. Same thing happens to me sometimes. I suggest talking to an adult you trust and try getting some of your feelings out instead of keeping them bottled up inside. Or another thing you can do that sometimes I like to do when I feel unhappy is you can sit quietly in a room and just visualize good things and positive things that make you really happy and that make you feel worthy. Always works to get my mood up a little bit. It could make a difference. Hope this helps!

These mood swings could be an effect from your daily diet. Look it up on Google or Bing! I have them all the time and I know it’s from my daily diet. I think you just need more protein, sugar, or what ever you might be missing in your diet. I hope I helped!

I know exactly how you feel and what you mean but sadly I have no idea how to help. btw I know im not gonna be able to stop you cutting your self but try to avoid big vains. playing xbox or something usually helps. dont feel pathetic about it lots of people feel this way you just need to find someone to talk to. I find girls are the best to talk to and I mean the nice innocent kind

I kinda know how you feel im only 13 but I started cutting whe I was 11 it was horrible and I recomend going to therapy and mabye getting on some happy pills(perscribtion haha), I am. and find a good friend or two who will confort you when you cry and they make you feel happy :) I honestly dont think parents help so mabye so your school counseler or mention it to your parents that you would like to go to therapy

Answer #6

You should start by talking to your parents. If you want to make things better you should really go to them first. You can trust me, I’ve been through some stuff myself. Even if it’s hard just do it, and ask about talking to a therapist. I know it doesn’t feel like an option, but I was encouraged to try it so I did this and it helped a lot. You’re having mood swings, and that’s not good, especially if you’re cutting. so just try it k? trust me, it’ll help.
