Orthodox Easter comes later than Catholic Easter and there is a greeting with kisses on the forehead, “Christos ernesti” - Christ is arisen! During Easter in Protestant Sweden small girls dress as witches and go from door to door.

Im from the philippines. People here are largely catholic and what they usually observe during the lenten season is said in this site:

  • some extreme sacrifices are done by a few devouts. they nail themselves to the cross and some do self-flagellations.

  • we also hear old people chanting bible verses in our native language but they are sang using a tune.

  • the first day of the holy week (palm sunday), catholics also decorate their house with palaspas: http://en.wikipilipinas.org/index.php?title=Palaspas

  • I dunno about the easter eggs though. im not sure I have seen people here doing that kind of thing.

a lot of people go to the beach during holy week too.
