Who could recomend any good new folk songs?

I need a folk song to play for a playing test in guitar class. Examples she gave us were old stuff than like Tegan and Sara, or City and Colour. I would much rather play some indie, folk music. Any suggestions?

how about “Johnny has gone for a soldier”? That’s actually a SUPER old one that I’m sure no one will play. Let me look at some new ones:

Beck has some good folk songs. What’s wrong with the old stuff, though? I think it would be fun to take an old folk song and just make it your own by making it sort of indie. I mean, that is where we get the inspiration from. Why not Simon and Garfunkel or Bob Dylan. Or maybe even take one of the old folk bluegrass songs and play it?

my idea is to listen to adele. it’s not pop but it sounds a lot like folk music to me. try “crazy for you”.
