Liz bought a box of 15 cookies. If she ate of the box and kelly ate of the box, how many cookies did they eat all together?

If they divided it equally, it would be 7 cookies and a half each. :]

oh man! I said how much, but FA took it off! I copied and pasted it right from the website :

well… if we are talking about fifths, then we divide the number of cookies by 5. 15/5=3.

so liz are one fifth so she ate 3. and kelley ate two fifths so she ate 6. (3+3=6) so they ate 9 all together.

the answer is 9, because if its one fifth, 15 needs to be divided by five, which is three. 1 x 3 is 3 and 2 x 3 is 6 so 6 + 3 = 9.
