When do you know your guinea pig is going to pass away?

In the past 3 to 4 hours, my male guinea pig (2 years old) has rapidly lost weight. He refuses to eat or drink and is hiding from me. What’s wrong? Is he going to die? What are symptoms of a dying guinea pig? Please Help!!!

Answer #1

The life expextancy of a guinea pig is about 5-7 years, but they can live longer, I had one that died this time last year and she was about 8 years old.

I would probably say take him to the vets to get him checked over, it all depends on how old the guinea pig is.

I don’t know the symptoms as mine died in her sleep, of old age. Take him to the vets as soon as possible…

you need to take your guinea pig to a vet straight away as this could be the choice between his life and death. the average age they live is 5 to 7 years but they have been known to live a lot longer..

rapid weight loss in humans is a sign of diabetes, I know as I have it…

it could also be a ulcer as to why hes not eating…

it could be so many things… get the lil fella to a vet as soon as posible

You know when one of your animals is going to pass away because they dont eat as much but they start drinking a lot more and also your guinea pig will be wobbly on its feet..
