Do you drop your jaw when singing a high note?

Do you drop your jaw when singing a high note? What about a low note?

Answer #1

well technically you have to drop your jaw all the time when you are singing, truthfully it makes you louder. going higher/lower is all about breath control, not how much you drop your jaw. I was in choir for 5 years and I would alwasy get in trouble for not dropping my jaw. thats how I learned about that. hoped that helped

Answer #2

yes you do because the wider your mouth is the more room your sound will come out and believe me it is true coz i go singing lessons and my tutor told me that so i hope my answer was helpful!!

When singing…you need room to make sound, and you want to pronounce the words right, so yes, you have to drop the jaw so that it’s an ahhhh sound instead of aaehh sound…. when singing a high note, you want the sound to flow up high, not from your throat, but into your forhead…and when singing a low note, you wanna sing from the chest…it all depends on if your a soprana, and alto…a tenor, bass…all that. :D

Hope I helped

Answer #5

For me personally, when I sing (Which I love to do) Bty lol I kind of have to… But you see, it really all depends on the best formulation to produce the sound in my opinion. Because everyones’ mouth & facial construction are different, no everyone sings in the same way. Try hitting a high note & seeing what works best for you, unless that is you are going also for the overall look of the note on your face when you do it, then I would practice by a mirror. Thats what I like to do!

Answer #6

it’s not actually dropping it all the way everytime. it depends what kind of sound you need, and if its piano, metzo forte, metzo piano, forte… its lowering the jaw and raising the soft pallet. imagine a pingpong ball inside your mouth..that kind of space.
