Think about giving her something that is more personal and expresses your feelings of love for her. Perhaps a “keepsake” that you can make for her yourself. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive. Just something personal from you to her.

A gift like that can never have a price tag on it, and could never be bought anywhere else. It would be unique, and one of a kind…not to mention having so much more meaning attached to it at Christmas Time.

As I read across your list of what Reegy “already” owns… for her age, she actually owns a lot of very expensive stuff. If that is true of your 11 year old sister as well, that could very well be part of “her” problem. Your younger sister may have been a “target” of someone buying “things” for her, instead of giving her more love and attention. She may be reaching out to these boys and acting the way she does because she doesn’t feel as loved by some of her family members somewhere.

At Christmas time, perhaps the best gift that a parent can give a child is more of their love, consideration and time. Young people with serious problems who are left to defend themselves at an early age will quite often grow up to be older people with much larger problems that they can’t handle. So, in the case of your 11 year old sister, you may not agree with what she is or doing, but one of the best gifts that you can give her at this time is to simply let her know that you are there for her to fall back on. She can come to you any time for talking, or advice, or what ever. Be her “real” friend in life… because she seems like she may be missing that from elsewhere and she is going out looking for it in all the wrong places.
