What should I send a friend who is in basic training?

I have a friend that I havent talked to in almost over a year. I decided to message him on aim and was very shocked to find out that he was in ait in georgia and had just finished basic training. His birthday is coming up and although my gift will not mkae it there on time, I want to send him something. I really dont know what to send him… I know there are limitations in what they can receive, so im just looking for gift ideas on what to send a reunited friend who is at basic training? Ps I am a female and he is male.. If that makes a difference

Like food and stuff was ok when I was there and it was only a year ago…just send enough for everyone…some drill sgts make you give everyone some…LETTERS are the best! Spell everything rite or he will pay for it! lol. Make sure to keep the letters positive…not a good time to tell him his dog got ran over…lol. But yea no nude pics or thongs or anything…ait isn’t that bad…its better than the first 2 weeks of basic…He’s at fort benning. He’s probily infantry…I am 19Delta. I went to fort bragg. Good stuff.

When my guy was in basic, I only sent him letters… he asked once for some of my perfume, so I sent him a cotton ball I had sprayed some on, in a little plastic bag. It sounded cheesy to me, but he said it was nice to smell it whenever he was stressed. He also mentioned that there were a few guys in his group that never got any mail at all… so I wrote them letters, too. Didn’t matter what I wrote about; they were happy to get some mail. :-) I guess it is the little things, when a person is doing something like that. that make a difference.

It may have changed, but when I was in, package of cakes, fruit, etc was VERY welcome. And Letters, mail, snail mail. But then I was in before the time of dirt, so it might be different.

Why not ask his family? Just go to them or call them and ask. As long as there is no bad history between you and him, they will probably be delighted. Dullikeglitter is right - no pictures that you wouldn’t be perfectly willing to show his parents. Not even bikini pictures.

Answer #4

You can’t send food, or…well anything really except for letters and pictures. Drill sergeants take everything else away.

oh and NO NUDIE PIX. The drill sergeants will take them and keep them…

so it really depends, what did you send?
