What's the difference between 'scene' and 'emo' fashions etc...?

As far as I can tell both of these stereotypical groups both have awful taste in music, caked on make-up and weird alteration of black and neon coloured clothes. What is the difference between the two? Is ‘scene’ the new ‘emo’ or something like that?

Answer #1

They’re both attention wh0rez, but I think scene kids where band shirts more, and they listen to mallcore bands. I don’t think scene kids want to kill themselves though so they’re not quite as lame even though emo and scene both suck.

Answer #2

‘emo’=emotional/emotive hardcore and is a genre of music that is (sadly) most likely dead by now ‘scene’ is a fashion style the stereotypes people have come up with are ridiculous, and as ‘imaginative’ as this “emos are cutting freaks” stereotype is, its rude, annoying, and a waste of words when you’ve got no other insult up your sleeve. If you listen to emotional hardcore, good for you..I personally like the music style a lot when it doesn’t include the same generic lyrics, melody, and whiny voice. As for the ‘scene’ style, I for the most part have no comment; neon colors annoy me after a while, and I’d rather stick those little bows into my eyes before I decide to wear one. IMPORTANT-but everyone has their own preferences and style, so I DO NOT mean to offend anyone with this

Answer #3

I think you guys are being unfairly sterotypical. All of the answers and the question are focused on how these people are supposed to look. Attention seeking style? Maybe some people like bright colors and cute bows. And not all ‘scene’ and ‘emo’ people wear caked on make up. Im considered one of the ‘scene’ kids at my school because I have a choppy haircut and pink underlayers. But I wear no make up. I prefer my layers because my hair is so thick. The pink is for breast cancer awareness. So honestly I dont mind if you dont know the differance. But treating them like a sub-species isn’t really a cool thing to do. Not all ‘scene’ people have big hair. It’s merely a trend at the moment. Like when it was in style to pluck your hairline back 4inches. They may grow out of it but it is a personal choice kind of like dressing like a ‘skater’ Stop being so stereotypical and try to get to know these people before passing judgement.

Answer #4

scene is basicaly an attention seeking style same with emo but there more seeking attention with there emotion they have almost the same style but sterotypically emos dress more in black were as scene kids dress in childish clothes and brighter colours and poof there hair up they both take there styles from other steotypes both are fads that most kids grow out of when they grow up

Answer #5

Well, apparently “ scence” is the same as “emo” Only theyre not depressed. To me “emo” is just a genre of music, a terrible one at that, and thats all it should ever be. Lets just hope this fad passes quickly.
