What's a good outside dog?

My grandma wants to get a new outside dog. She has a pomperian girl that she has had for a while. She has had 2 other dogs both of them have gotten killed by coyotes in the past year. She wants a dog that won’t scare the squirls or deer or anything wild because she gets paid to preserve the wild.

Answer #1

They have a heated shed that is just for dogs well it’s not really a shed but like a one room house

Answer #2

The cyotes got taken away because they were a thret because they are really small children down the street

Answer #3

I agree with Phrannie. Definently, without a doubt. Dogs should be kept inside. Would you like it if you were kept outside in the rain, snow, or on a hot day? Dogs can get hypothermia, and heat stroke just like us. If you do get a dog don’t keep it outside. Keep it inside, no dog should be kept outside 24/7. That should be illegal. It doesn’t matter how many other dogs your grandma has outside. It has NOTHING to do with that. If your grandmother is just going to get a dog and leave it outside and not play with it at all, then she shouldn’t get a dog, it’s not like it makes a difference if she has a dog or not. From what your saying it sounds like your grandma doesn’t feed the dogs or provide exercise. Your buying a dog and planning to take care of it, but all you do is leave it outside and do nothing at all with it. Your abandoning them. You people make me sick.

Answer #4

I think she should get a ladrador or a golden retreiver, they both love other animals, they might chase the bunnies though, thats just what dogs do :)

Answer #5

Why would she want to get another dog killed by the wildlife she’s “preserving”?? She should just stick with the inside dog she has. Besides, dogs are “social animals”…it’s cruel enough to keep them isolated outside…and crueler to keep them as coyote bait.

Answer #6

That still doesn’t change the fact that dogs shouldn’t be isolated in a back yard. Dogs need to live with their people and other dogs…it’s their NATURE!!

Answer #7

They have 40 acers of land it’s not just a backyard. There is another outside dog. And people are outside a lot like my uncle and his girlfriend and 4girls every 2 Saturdays and there is 2 teenage girls that stay there and a teenage boy

Answer #8

Dogs are not on this earth for your or anyones entertainment. You do not need another dog. Your grandmother should just stick with the dog she has. It does not matter how many people ‘visit’ the 40 acres… to get another dog (s) would be selfish…

Answer #9

The best outside dogs are as follows - Malamute Siberian husky Saint Bernard German Shepherd Bernese Mountain Dog

Just to name a few :) Those are all large breed dogs and have nice thick coats for winter that also shed out in the summer. Just remember that any dog she gets will need proper shelter for the climate you live in.
