What path to choose?

Ok so am so confused with the whole career thing…first I wanted to be a nurse…then a fashion designer…and now I have this whole other idea of going to university to study finance and accounting or marketing and I want to make the right decision.. I started doin researches about each field..but am just lost.

  1. Why am I so scared? 2.who else had this problem? 3.how do I make sure that am making the good decision?
Answer #1

1.) It’s a major life decision of course it’s gonna be scary.

2.) I have. I wanted to be a doctor then an interior designer, then I wanted to go into fashion design, and now I’ve decided to go to University for Psychology.

3.) There is no way to know for sure if your making the right decision or not, you just have to do what you think is right to do and what you want to do and hope everything works out, besides no matter how hard or confusing something may be life has a tendency to all work out in the end. :)

* Personally I looked into all the fields and I have a passion for Psychology and Fashion, so I might be doing a double major with them in University, or a double major in Psychology and English, and just have Fashion as a side project, for when I have free time. :) You don’t always have to make an ultimatum choice it depends on how much you can handle and how passionate and hard working you are to something as well. :)

  1. Why am I so scared?

Because this is a huge decision and you (like everyone else making the decision) is confused

2.who else had this problem?

I have, even now after studying for 4 years, I am still confused and not sure if I am in the right direction. But so are all my friends. Fact is NO ONE knows whether what they are choosing is right and most people don’t know until after they have done it.

3.how do I make sure that am making the good decision?

My suggestion, go and interview or do free work (like make coffee) for firms that are in that direction and then decide what you want to do based on your experience with them. Also if you have made a choice, stick with it. University/college is a challenge and a lot of time you will feel like pulling your hair out or maybe slicing your wrists, but everyone does. It’s tough and it doesn’t get easier.

However you don’t have to only study one thing, you can finish one career and try another. You have about 70-80 years of living. I will be studying something in medicine after I have finished my current degree (probably just part time).

Answer #3

what does your heart tell you to do ? do something you are passionate about …

I went from studying business and now im going to be doing criminal justice. sometimes it just hits you and you realise what you want in life. you want to be happy at your job and with your career, it will take time to decide but listen to your heart and no one else. it is your life.

dont force yourself into studying something that youre not interested in or you wont do well at it .

You need to find some summer workshops, or classes. A lot of Universitys have them. If the school is not close to home they usually offer lodging in the dorms. Spend some time trying each out. You have to decide which is what you want to spend your life doing and which could be hobbies.

In college they have many clubs. You may find yourself studying Marketing and the president of the fasion club. You never know. Then after graduation you could be in the marketing division of a fasion company/magazine.

Answer #5

Oh my goodness! I’m in the EXACT same situation as you! I’ve considered all those career choices, and I’ve decided to just go with the flow. You’re scared because you’re making this huge life decision and you need pointers. You’ll know you’re making the right decision when you’re happy with where you’re at.

Consider this: How many years do you have left until you graduate? Analyze your likes and dislikes then compare with each occupation. What do you value the most?

Well, I came up with a conclusion and I’m sticking to it; you only have one life to live so make the most out of it ;] < 3
