What is wrong with my lip?
I got my lip pierced in 10, 10, 2008. I think its gotten infected. Its alittle redish. It may be irratated. What should I do? I put alcohol on it and cleaned my lip rings out, and left the lip ring out of it. If its infected, can I save it? Without having to let it close up and get it re-pierced?
don’t take it out! it could cause the infection to get trapped inside, if your ear closed up. touching your piercing will just add to irritation and any bacteria on your hands will get onto the piercing, so make sure your hands are clean! keep the piercing clean with a little cotton wool soaked in salt water, then clean around the area, you can also use a little tea tree oil after cleaning, the oil will help protect the piercing and hopefully start to heal. go to a doctor if it gets any worse
The best thing is to keep the lip ring in. My right one got infected earlier along. I used some warm salt water salute on the outside, and made sure to brush my teeth and use NON ALCOHOLIC mouthwash a lot. It made the infection go away in two days =] Make sure to brush a lot and use the mouthwash after everything you eat from about the first four months of the piercing, and you should be fine =] ~~Britt
